Le Nhat Truong, from Vietnam, is a first-year student of the HSE Master’s Programme 'Science of Learning and Assessment.' He spoke to the HSE News Service about his motivation for studying in Moscow, how research projects enrich his academic journey, and the role education plays in social transformation.

The Programme Committee of the 25^th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development has summed up the initial results. In 2025, 1,384 people from 24 countries and 29 Russian regions participated in the conference, with 335 of them delivering presentations.

Researchers from HSE University in Perm have developed NeuroSkate, a neural network that identifies the movements of skaters on video and determines the correctness of the elements performed. The algorithm has already demonstrated success with the basic elements, and further development of the model will improve its accuracy in identifying complex jumps. 

HSE University has hosted the Career Gambit student festival organised by the HSE Chess Club. The festival offered a platform for dialogue between students and prospective employers. Participants not only developed their game strategies but also engaged in discussions about careers and real employment opportunities. It turned out that playing chess is also an opportunity to connect, discuss professional interests, and explore future collaboration.

As part of IPW-2025, representatives of the School of Economics and Management and the School of Computer Science, Physics and Technology of HSE University–St Petersburg discussed joint educational projects and research initiatives with their partners. International colleagues showed interest in the expertise of HSE University–St Petersburg and a willingness to develop long-term partnerships.

Researchers at the HSE Centre for Language and Brain used eye-tracking to examine how bilinguals switch between languages in response to context shifts. Script differences were found to slow down this process. The article has been published in Bilingualism: Language and Cognition.

The HSE Moscow campus held a meeting with Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieyra, the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to the Russian Federation. HSE Vice Rector Victoria Panova, Academic Supervisor of the School of International Regional Studies Olga Volosyuk, and Head of the International Partnerships Office Ksenia Shevtsova took part in the meeting. The parties discussed opportunities for expanding academic cooperation, including student exchanges, translation projects, and joint research initiatives.

The Changellenge career platform has summarised the results of the largest case championships of the 2024/25 season, presenting an updated ranking of universities according to their level of practical orientation. HSE University was announced as the overall winner.

Foreign scientists successfully continue their work in HSE University laboratories, combining fundamental and applied research to achieve significant results.
