HSE University and the Centre for International Policy Research (Qatar) have agreed to collaborate in the field of social sciences, with plans for joint research, academic exchanges, and regular expert engagement. The agreement was signed during the roundtable ‘State Capacity and State Resilience in the Global South,’ held as part of the 25th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference at HSE University.

HSE University has launched a unique digital Repository of Socio-Economic Information, replacing the outdated platform for the unified archive of economic and sociological data. The update includes not only a refreshed interface and enhanced functionality but also a reimagined concept for the platform itself.

Russians with children feel happier than those without children. At the same time, the number of children influences the assessment of happiness: the more children Russians have, the happier they feel. These conclusions were outlined in the report ‘More Children, More Happiness: The Impact of the Number of Children on Russians’ Assessment of Happiness,’ presented at the XXV Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.

The anniversary 25th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development will take place from April 15 to 18. This year, over a thousand applications were submitted to present at the conference, of which the Programme Committee selected 381 of the best research papers in their respective fields.

In February and March 2025, four students of the HSE Preparatory Year took part in the Russian Language Olympiad for Students of Preparatory Faculties, which was held online via the website of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.

On April 10, the annual Career Marathon organised by the HSE Career Development Centre took place in the atrium of the HSE University building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. The event was held both on site and online. Students of various fields from both HSE and other universities took part in the event to broaden their career outlook and establish contacts with potential employers.

HSE University was the only participant from Russia to hold its own expert sessions at the annual conference and exhibition of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE). The delegation was headed by Anna Tyshetskaya, Director of HSE University–St Petersburg.

Zhou Jinyu is a third-year student of the Bachelor’s programme ‘Data Science and Business Analytics’ at the Faculty of Computer Science at HSE University. She talked to the HSE News Service about studying on the double-degree programme, her career prospects, her attitude to artificial intelligence, and why it’s important to step out of your comfort zone.

On March 26, the 14th Research Seminar on Economic Studies, titled ‘Bank Lending: Trends, Risks, and New Opportunities,’ was held at HSE ICEF. The seminar gathered participants from Russian banks and professors from leading universities in Russia, the US, China, and the Netherlands. Key topics included the development of the banking sector, environmental factors in lending, and credit risks and strategies.
