The anniversary 25th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development will take place from April 15 to 18. This year, over a thousand applications were submitted to present at the conference, of which the Programme Committee selected 381 of the best research papers in their respective fields.

In February and March 2025, four students of the HSE Preparatory Year took part in the Russian Language Olympiad for Students of Preparatory Faculties, which was held online via the website of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.

HSE University was the only participant from Russia to hold its own expert sessions at the annual conference and exhibition of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE). The delegation was headed by Anna Tyshetskaya, Director of HSE University–St Petersburg.

Zhou Jinyu is a third-year student of the Bachelor’s programme ‘Data Science and Business Analytics’ at the Faculty of Computer Science at HSE University. She talked to the HSE News Service about studying on the double-degree programme, her career prospects, her attitude to artificial intelligence, and why it’s important to step out of your comfort zone.

An HSE delegation, led by Rector Nikita Anisimov, visited China for negotiations with the administration of the country’s top universities. The parties agreed to expand bilateral scientific and educational collaboration and signed several documents. In particular, a strategic partnership agreement was established with Peking University, one of the oldest and most prestigious educational institutions in China.

Runjie Geng, Assistant Professor at the International College of Economics and Finance, has been at HSE University since 2020. He joined HSE University after obtaining a PhD in Finance at the University of Zurich. Runjie Geng spoke to the HSE University News Service about his research interests, career, and four years of life and work in Moscow.

The Holi Festival, a celebration of spring, sunlight and Indian culture, was held at the atrium of the HSE University building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. Students and teachers immersed themselves in the atmosphere of one of the most vibrant Indian holidays, trying on traditional saris, participating in an quiz, and enjoying live performances.

The Russian Science Foundation has completed its review of projects submitted for grants to support research by teams, as well as 2022 grant winners applying for project extensions. In addition, interdisciplinary projects for research awarded under the Presidential funding programme have been announced. Projects awarded under each of the three categories include submissions from researchers at all four campuses of HSE University.

HSE University–St Petersburg has announced the call for the Summer School in the Himalayas. The programme allows bachelor's, master's, and PhD students to immerse themselves in research on climate change and sustainability in local communities in the unique natural laboratory of the Himalayan region.
