HSE University Announces Call for Proposals to Attend Anniversary Yasin Conference
HSE University invites submissions of proposals with academic reports for participation in the 25th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference (YIAC). The conference programme, centred on five research themes addressing issues of economic and social development, will retain its interdisciplinary focus and welcome participation from leading scientists in Russia and around the globe. The key events of the 25th Yasin Conference will be taking place in Moscow from April 15 to 18, 2025.

On June 26 and 27, HSE University at Pokrovka hosted a discussion of potential partnerships between the university's research teams and strategic projects under the Priority 2030 programme. University Meets the Interests of Russia: Key Priorities of HSE Development
On March 19, the HSE Staff and Student Conference, which was attended by 727 delegates, took place at the Russia Expo. At the event, a vote for 87 candidates to the elected part of the HSE Academic Council was held, all of which received the required number of votes.

Faculty of Economic Sciences Welcomes New Partner Universities from Ghana
HSE University Faculty of Economic Sciences took an active part in International Partners’ Week, just finished at HSE. The week was attended by representatives of 23 countries, including the new partners of the Faculty of Economic Sciences - the University of Cape Coast and the University of Ghana. One of the purposes of the visit of representatives of Ghanaian universities was to sign the MOU’s with HSE University. Agreements will enable academic and cultural cooperation between universities, as well as establish academic exchanges.
Faculty of Economic Sciences Holds Math BootCamps for Those Starting Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees
More than 200 future bachelor’s and master’s students from around the world spent the last two weeks of summer improving their mathematical knowledge and honing their problem-solving skills. The free online classes have been held for the fourth year in a row. They allow first-year students not only to succeed in their studies, research, and project activities at HSE University’s Faculty of Economic Sciences (FES), but also to quickly integrate into the international community of students, graduates, and teachers.

Aleskerov is a professor of the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences, head of the Department of Mathematics and director of the International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis. The list of the Academy’s foreign members began with mathematician Mstislav Keldysh, and in the 20 years since, only two more scientists have joined those ranks. Scientists Assess the Effectiveness of Forest Fires Suppression in the Russian Regions
April officially marked the beginning of the peak forest fire season across Russia, and preventative measures have recently been discussed at the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (also known as The Ministry of Emergency Situations, MChS) and at a meeting in which the President of the Russian Federation participated. Regions have already started taking measures to prevent forest fires, and a team of researchers from the Faculty of Economic Sciences of HSE University has proposed a mathematical model by which the effectiveness of these measures can be evaluated. Using this algorithm, they compared Russian regions in terms of the success of their firefighting activities. Details of the work have been published in the collection ‘Dynamics of Disasters: Impact, Risk, Resilience, and Solutions’.

Renowned Professors Offer New Courses for Summer University Students
HSE’s Summer University officially opened on June 20. Now in its fourth week, the Summer University is in full swing at three of HSE’s four campuses– Moscow, St Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod. Participants continue coming to Russia for courses on topics such as politics, history, economics, and Russian and Eurasian cultures. Most courses last two to four weeks and all of them are taught in English.

HSE researchers have used computer modelling to demonstrate the varying manipulability of decision-making procedures and to identify those least susceptible to manipulation. Their findings are published in the paper 'Manipulability of Majority Relation-based Collective Decision Rules'.

New International Labs at HSE St. Petersburg to Study Economy of Health and Game Theory
On June 26, the HSE Academic Council approved the opening of two new international laboratories. Specifically, the St. Petersburg School of Economics and Management will gain a laboratory for the study of healthcare economics, management, and policy, as well as a laboratory for game theory and decision-making. On December 3, 2014 an Italian delegation led by the Rector of the University of Turin, Gianmaria Ajani, visited HSE.
