HSE University Studies Human Capital as Part of Consortium

The Human Capital Interdisciplinary Research Centre (HCIRC) is a world-class research centre comprising a consortium of HSE University, RANEPA, MGIMO University, and the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Its work was highly rated by the RAS in 2021. Lilia Ovcharova, HSE University Vice Rector and initiator of the centre’s creation, talked to the HSE News Service about integration in international studies on active ageing, creating a database on development trends in human potential, studying the effects of digitalisation, and the centre’s priority activities for the future.

The competition for promising young researchers is intensifying around the world, and spending on preparing future generations of highly qualified specialists is on the rise. This is happening against a backdrop of digitalisation, which is creating a new digital inequality. For example, a quarter of the adult population in Russia does not possess any digital skills and does not use the Internet. These and other topics were discussed by participants of a round table held during the XXII April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development organised by HSE University and Sberbank.

Responsible Leadership for the Future through Science, Technology, and Innovation

Yulia Milshina, Leading Expert at the HSE ISSEK Foresight Centre, made a presentation at the 3rd BRICS Young Scientists Forum (25–-29 June, Durban, South Africa) highlighting various specific features of managing the water sector in each member country. This year the forum focused on strategic management and preservation of water resources in the commonwealth countries in the context of global warming.

ISSEK Experts’ Participation in St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2018 begins tomorrow. A representative delegation from the Higher School of Economics, and the HSE ISSEK will take part in the business and presentation programmes. In particular, the panel session 'Resources and Economics of Global Oceans' will be held on 25 May, which Leonid Gokhberg, First Vice Rector and ISSEK Director was invited to attend. On 25 and 26 May ISSEK experts will host two discussions at the HSE stand: 'Application of Big Data analytics to support strategic decision-making', and 'Doing science: how comfortable young researchers feel in Russian academia'.

Trends in the Development of the Internet in Russia

The analytical report prepared by the NRU HSE ISSEK on the request of the Coordination Center for TLD RU presents the main results of a comprehensive study of the Internet development trends, transformational changes that take place in the economy, social area, and everyday life influenced by network technologies, assessment of the level of online technologies in Russia in comparison with foreign countries; regional comparisons are provided as well.

HSE Presented Panoramic Picture of Global Technology Trends at SPIEF-2017

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) was held on 1—3 June 2017. This year the Higher School of Economics took part in the business, discussion, and exhibition programmes. HSE had its own stand featuring an interactive presentation “What’s going to happen to humankind in 25 years’ time?”, based on the results of the HSE ISSEK “Monitoring Global Technology Trends” study.
