WiFi Capacity in HSE University Dormitories

What to do in case of WiFi trouble

Students residing in dormitories at HSE University may occasionally experience problems with the Wi-Fi connection. Here is what has been and will be done to improve the quality of internet access at our facilities.

All educational systems and services have been connected to an automatic monitoring system, which allows for the technical support team to respond as quickly as possible to any malfunctions, while also working to restore access quickly. In addition, the capacity of the LMS servers has been doubled.

A new wireless network is currently being set up in one of the buildings at the Dubki Dormitory Complex so as to ensure stable internet access. In the future, similar networks will be installed at all HSE University dormitories.

Over the past six months, the bandwidth has been expanded by 1.5 times on average. The system does not operate at full capacity in any of the buildings. If the load reaches the limit, the bandwidth will be further enhanced. For the maintenance period, there may be restrictions on access to entertainment content during the daytime. However, there is no need for such measures at present.

You can report problems with your internet connection via the website or by e-mail at wifi@hse.ru. Students can also contact the IT service through the administration of their dorm. After the recent transition to distance learning, the University’s IT Office has already received more than 250 requests from students.
