This department was set up to support the development of:
- the promising scientific research, as well as the formation of new scientific schools at the Higher School of Economics;
- the domestic scientific collaborations by increasing the effectiveness of cooperation in research and project areas;
- the inter-campus scientific cooperation at the Higher School of Economics;
- the tools to facilitate the effective integration of young scientists into the research activities of HSE structural units;
- project competitions for centers of excellence, including international laboratories and experimental research laboratories in natural sciences, the Mirror Laboratories project and others

Organizational support of the HSE Mirror Laboratories projects:
• advising project managers of the HSE Mirror Laboratories on the regulations for work on projects within the allocated funds, as well as on other issues related to current activities within the framework of projects;
• Monitoring activities within the allocated funds for the HSE Mirror Laboratories projects;
• maintenance of databases (performance indicators, reports) of the HSE Mirror Laboratories projects;
• administration of the news feed for the projects "Mirror Laboratories";
• Organizational support for the projects of international laboratories funded from the HSE funds in the areas of History, Linguistics, Philology, Sociology:
• advising managers of international laboratories on the rules of work on projects, as well as on other issues related to the current activities of laboratories;
• coordination of the reporting work of international laboratories in accordance with the requirements (collection and verification of interim and final reports);
• maintenance of databases of activities of international laboratories;
• verification and analysis of performance indicators, publication activity
