Yousra Demigha, from Algeria, is a student of the Master’s programme ‘Cognitive Sciences and Technologies: From Neuron to Cognition’ and a research assistant at the Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience. In her interview with the HSE News Service, Yousra talks about her experience of the programme so far, what makes HSE one of the best universities in the country, and why she hasn’t found it difficult to integrate into Russian society.

The opening of the ‘Khatanga. Heritage’ exhibition took place in the atrium of the HSE building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. The event was organised with the support of the Russian Geographical Society. At the Third Al-Khorezmi International Mathematical Olympiad, held at Urgench State University in Uzbekistan, students from HSE University's Faculty of Computer Science scored best results among participants from Russian universities. At the dawn of the 21st century, humans are increasingly becoming not just observers, but active participants in the technological revolution. Among the breakthroughs with the potential to change the lives of millions, brain–computer interfaces hold a special place. These technologies were the focal point of the spring International School ‘A New Generation of Neurointerfaces,’ which took place at HSE University.

HSE University–St Petersburg wrapped up International Partners' Week with a lesson on Portuguese, a workshop on the dances of various Brazilian regions, a lecture about one of the most popular Brazilian musicians and a live performance by his devotees. Organised by the Bachelor’s programme in Media Communications, the 'Viva o Brasil!' festival invited students to explore the culture of one of the largest countries in Latin America.

Researchers from HSE University and the Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences have proposed a new method of data analysis: tunnel clustering. It allows for the rapid identification of groups of similar objects and requires fewer computational resources than traditional methods. Depending on the data configuration, the algorithm can operate dozens of times faster than its counterparts.

Le Nhat Truong, from Vietnam, is a first-year student of the HSE Master’s Programme 'Science of Learning and Assessment.' He spoke to the HSE News Service about his motivation for studying in Moscow, how research projects enrich his academic journey, and the role education plays in social transformation.

On May 30, Zenit Football Club Day was held at the small hall of the HSE Cultural Centre. Representatives of the club Kirill Lata, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board on International Affairs, and Irina Lebedeva, Head of the Strategic Marketing Department, met with students and university staff. They discussed the specifics of football marketing, FC Zenit, and the career opportunities it offers.

The Programme Committee of the 25^th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development has summed up the initial results. In 2025, 1,384 people from 24 countries and 29 Russian regions participated in the conference, with 335 of them delivering presentations.
