On May 10, a delegation from Tsinghua University—one of China’s leading higher education institutions—paid an official visit to HSE University. The delegation was led by Qiu Yong, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, former President and Chair of the University Council, and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The HSE International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration held a roundtable titled ‘Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration: Current Trends.’ Scholars from Israel, China, and Russia discussed which public services AI can enhance and what key factors must be considered when adopting new technologies.

The X5 Tech Sprint is a championship in algorithmic programming. A total of 808 school pupils and university students from over 200 educational institutions across Moscow took part. HSE ranked first among universities in the overall participant leaderboard, and a student from the Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) achieved the best individual result.

The International Academic Cooperation (IAC) competition aims to promote international academic partnerships, broaden research agendas, and foster interdisciplinary approaches. It also encourages students, including doctoral students at HSE University, to participate in joint basic research projects.

The 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics has been awarded to the international collaborations of experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, including the LHCb collaboration, in which researchers from HSE University have participated. 

A team of researchers at HSE University, in collaboration with scientists from Russian and foreign universities, has investigated the impact of electrical brain stimulation on learning new words. The experiment shows that direct current stimulation of language centres can improve and speed up the memorisation of new words. The findings have been published in Neurobiology of Learning and Memory.

The BRICS Youth Innovation Summit 2025 was held in Cape Town on April 10–11, 2025. The event was attended by political and business leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences have shared their experiences of the trip to South Africa, their presentations at the BRICS summit, penguin encounters, and more!

For the past five years, the Digital Professors programme has successfully brought leading international experts from foreign educational and research institutions, global companies, and organisations to HSE University to teach in a remote format.
