For nearly two decades, HSE University’s international recruitment programmes have brought highly qualified professionals from the global academic job market to Russia—from recent PhD graduates of leading universities to experienced international scholars. On September 1, 2025, the university expects 50 new international faculty and researchers to join its academic team.

‘Technologies of the Future: A Common Global Space or Every Nation for Itself?’ was the title of a session held on June 19, 2025, with the support of Alfa-Bank at this year’s St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025). The discussion featured HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov and was moderated by journalist, TV presenter, and public figure Ksenia Sobchak.

The annual Vysokovsky Forum, organised by the Faculty of Urban and Regional Development, was held at HSE University. Officials, business representatives, teachers, and experts gathered to discuss whether development projects should be adapted to residents' needs, whether New Moscow could become a new centre of attraction, and what benefits HSE will gain from launching a new academic department in partnership with A101 Group.

On May 31, 2025, HSE University hosted the fifth and anniversary edition of the HSE Business Club Forum—the largest student-led entrepreneurship event in Russia. Over five years, students have transformed this forum from a small local initiative into a large-scale platform bringing together market leaders, investors, aspiring entrepreneurs, and anyone keen to build a business while still at university.

Yousra Demigha, from Algeria, is a student of the Master’s programme ‘Cognitive Sciences and Technologies: From Neuron to Cognition’ and a research assistant at the Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience. In her interview with the HSE News Service, Yousra talks about her experience of the programme so far, what makes HSE one of the best universities in the country, and why she hasn’t found it difficult to integrate into Russian society.

The first HSE University satellite has completed its work in orbit after more than 35,000 hours of trouble-free operation, one billion kilometres travelled (24,600 orbits around the Earth), and hundreds of full-frame shots taken of the Earth's surface across an area of 320,000 km². At the Third Al-Khorezmi International Mathematical Olympiad, held at Urgench State University in Uzbekistan, students from HSE University's Faculty of Computer Science scored best results among participants from Russian universities. The olympiad also featured contestants from Brazil, the USA, China, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

At the dawn of the 21st century, humans are increasingly becoming not just observers, but active participants in the technological revolution. Among the breakthroughs with the potential to change the lives of millions, brain–computer interfaces hold a special place. These technologies were the focal point of the spring International School ‘A New Generation of Neurointerfaces,’ which took place at HSE University.

The opening of the ‘Khatanga. Heritage’ exhibition took place in the atrium of the HSE building on Pokrovsky Bulvar. The event was organised with the support of the Russian Geographical Society. The educational project features photo materials with interactive tours, as well as a series of videos and a podcast that draw attention to the cultural and environmental aspects of the region.
