This year, HSE University will open admission to ten new bachelor's programmes. Three of them—Architecture, Game and Digital Product Development, and Chemistry of New Materials—have recently been approved by HSE University's Academic Council. Here, we provide more details on these programmes.

HSE University and the University of Delhi, in partnership with Geoscan, have agreed to establish an international scientific mirror laboratory on data storage, processing, and transmission in space systems. On January 15, 2025, the Russian-Brazilian Colloquium on Logical Pluralism was held at the HSE International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy to mark World Logic Day. This event was part of the joint project ‘Pluralistic Perspectives on Logic and Formal Philosophy,’ implemented by the laboratory and the Centre for Logic, Epistemology and the History of Science at the University of Campinas (Brazil) under the International Academic Cooperation competition.

A study conducted at HSE University shows that despite having the same education and similar starting conditions, the pay gap between male and female recent graduates can be as high as 22%. This is partly because female students often choose less lucrative fields and also because they tend to seek jobs in sectors that offer lower pay but are perceived to have more stable and safer working conditions.

On January 25, Russian Students' Day, HSE University-St Petersburg will open a new educational space in the building of the Rope Shop of the Red Nailer factory on Vasilievsky Island. The monument of constructivism, which was designed by the prominent architect Yakov Chernikhov, will become a centre for the development of IT, engineering, design and media communications. Approximately four thousand students will study in the building.

Researchers at HSE MIEM have developed a model for calculating the electrical conductivity of aqueous electrolyte solutions; for the first time, it considers the spatial distribution of ion charges instead of assuming their localisation at a single point. This breakthrough will contribute to the development of more efficient batteries.
