  • MIEM HSE Establishes Telecommunications Research Institute

    The institute will conduct fundamental and applied research in the development, analysis, and application of communication technologies with their subsequent commercialisation, as well as train development engineers for the telecom industry. Professor Evgeny Koucheryavy, Director of the MIEM Telecommunications Research Institute, has spoken to the HSE News Service about the goals, objectives, strategy and structure of the new organisation.

  • Considering News Background Can Improve GDP Projections in Periods of Instability

    The accuracy of Russian GDP forecasts during periods of instability improves in 45% of cases when news reports are taken into account. However, during more stable periods, this advantage nearly disappears. News provides an up-to-date view of the economy and enables quicker responses to emerging challenges. This was revealed by an analysis of news reports conducted by Ivan Stankevich and Natalia Makeeva of the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences, and Nikita Lyubaykin.

  • Research Centre for Cognitive Health and Intelligence Opens at HSE University

    The new research subdivision will focus on both the fundamental and applied aspects of human intelligence studies. Led by prominent Russian and international scientists, the centre will pursue several research areas with main foci on intellectual functions and their operation under various conditions, the mechanisms of language communication, bilingualism and cognitive reserve, and the role of sensorimotor systems in cognitive processes.

  • Fortunes, Cards, and Sweets: School of Asian Studies Holds Japanese Bōnenkai Celebration

    For a few hours, HSE University transformed into a Japanese enclave in the heart of Moscow as the campus hosted a traditional bōnenkai end-of-year festival. The Musubi Japanese club of the School of Asian Studies invited anyone interested to find out what kadomatsu are, how to make traditional nengajo New Year’s cards, and to take part in some New Year’s traditions they might not be familiar with.

  • HSE University Welcomes New Members Hired Through International Recruiting Procedures

    In December 2024, HSE University welcomed successful candidates for tenure-track positions and postdoctoral fellowships. This year, the university strengthened its teaching and research teams with 39 international faculty members, each holding a PhD from leading international institutions such as Maastricht University, the University of Pennsylvania, École Polytechnique, Xi'an Jiaotong University, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Hunan University, and many others.
