A delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences visited HSE University. As part of the visit, a roundtable discussion on ‘Russia and China: Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Interaction in a New Era’ was held. Participants discussed issues related to the Russian-Chinese strategic interaction in global and regional security, finance, trade, and investment.

The Forum brought together more than 200 representatives from the expert community across all BRICS countries to discuss the topic ‘BRICS: New Figures at the Global Chessboard.’ The forum was organised by the BRICS Expert Council–Russia, which operates on the basis of HSE University. The event’s opening ceremony featured the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Duma, as well as HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov and HSE Vice Rector, Russian W20 Sherpa Victoria Panova.

Foreign students from HSE University recently took part in the project of the School of Entrepreneurship for international students ‘Start your business with Moscow!’. Wang Yue, student of the HSE GSB Master's programme in International Management from China, became one of the most active participants in the project. She shared her impressions of participating in the training with the HSE News Service.

April 23–25, 2024, international students from Russian universities took part in the 4th Conference ‘Scientific Initiative of International Students and Postgraduates’ in Tomsk. The event was organised by Tomsk Polytechnic University and covered trends in social sciences, humanities, engineering, and other fields. For the second year, students of the HSE Preparatory Year Programme took part in the conference.

The Competition of Innovations in Education (KIVO), implemented by HSE University in partnership with Alfa-Bank, announced the first wave of applications. The participants can submit projects developing various innovations in education. The winner of the competition will receive one million roubles.

HSE University has improved its position in the recently published Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Ranking, rising from 98^th to 87^th place. This is the best position among Russian universities. Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, holds first place.

The HSE Inter Football Cup—mini-football championship, which has already become a tradition, was held on the open lawn of the Energia Stadium on May 19, 2024. This year, a team of international students from the St. Petersburg campus also joined the fight for the Сup. More than 100 international students from various countries came together for a day of spirited competition and cultural exchange.

Contrary to established theory, globalisation has increased, rather than reduced, inequality in emerging economies. To solve this problem, more opportunities should be created enabling people to acquire new skills. Nobel Prize laureate and Professor at Harvard, Eric S. Maskin, who is also Chief Research Fellow at the HSE International Centre of Decision Choice and Analysis, shared his insights on the topic.
