On January 30, the Rovesnik bar will host a screening of outstanding animations by students of the HSE Art and Design School. The programme features more than forty animated works exploring the themes of friendship and love, victory and defeat, and simply fun stories. In addition to artistic animations, visitors will be able to see advertisements, promos, and videos for nonprofit organisations. All of these works were created by students based on briefs from real clients.

In 2024, the online Russian-taught master’s programme ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ offered by the HSE Faculty of Computer Science, saw a record number of first-year students—over 300. What accounts for such a high interest in AI, how the curriculum is structured, and what new skills will graduates acquire? Elena Kantonistova, the programme’s academic director, shares more.

A collaborative study by Sergey Stepanov, Associate Professor at the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences, and experts from INSEAD Business School and NYU Shanghai, indicates that in making decisions under high uncertainty, where it is unclear which choice is superior, advice from independent experts may be more beneficial than a collective opinion from a group of experts. On January 15, 2025, the Russian-Brazilian Colloquium on Logical Pluralism was held at the HSE International Laboratory for Logic, Linguistics and Formal Philosophy to mark World Logic Day. This event was part of the joint project ‘Pluralistic Perspectives on Logic and Formal Philosophy,’ implemented by the laboratory and the Centre for Logic, Epistemology and the History of Science at the University of Campinas (Brazil) under the International Academic Cooperation competition.

HSE University and the University of Delhi, in partnership with Geoscan, have agreed to establish an international scientific mirror laboratory on data storage, processing, and transmission in space systems. The agreement was signed on January 15, during a visit to India by an HSE University delegation led by Rector Nikita Anisimov.

This year, HSE University will open admission to ten new bachelor's programmes. Three of them—Architecture, Game and Digital Product Development, and Chemistry of New Materials—have recently been approved by HSE University's Academic Council. Here, we provide more details on these programmes.
