Gabriel Odigbo Iji, from Nigeria, is a student of the master's programme ‘Politics. Economics. Philosophy’ at HSE University in Moscow. In an interview with the HSE News Service, Gabriel speaks about his journey to Moscow last year, the admissions process, his expectations of studies and the student community, as well as the opportunities that HSE offers to international students.

The HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences summarised the results of its traditional prediction contest. FES holds this contest annually on the eve of Nobel Week. This year, the contest once again attracted participants from different regions of Russia and countries around the world. Remarkably, one participant managed to predict all three laureates of the 2024 Economics Prize.

In September, the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge hosted an international working meeting with representatives from Brazilian, Egyptian, and Indian think tanks. HSE ‘Study Tour Experience’ is a project for international applicants who want to experience what it's like to be an HSE master’s student. The internship by the HSE International Admissions Office has been functioning since 2020 in two formats (offline and online) and in two languages—Russian and English. In the autumn semester of the 2024/25 academic year, the internship will take place in November. The application deadline is October 13.

Vasily Klucharev, HSE professor and Leading Research Fellow at the Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience, successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in cognitive science. This was the first doctoral dissertation in this discipline in Russia.

On October 25–26, 2024, HSE University’s AI and Digital Science Institute and the AI Research Centre hold the Fall into ML 2024 conference in Moscow. This year’s event will focus on the prospects in development of fundamental artificial intelligence, with SBER as its conference title partner.

On October 11, 2024, the third exhibition GRADUATION'24 opened at the Parking Gallery of Zaryadye Park. More than 200 promising artists from 22 Moscow institutions are participating in the event. The exhibition features various works from modern painting to computer games created by graduates of different tracks of HSE Art and Design School.

Researchers at the HSE AI Research Centre and Sber AI Lab have developed a special system that, using large language models, will make AI more emotional when communicating with a person. Multi-agent models, which are gaining popularity, will be engaged in the synthesis of AI emotions.
