Anna Rezyapova participated in international conferences on migration and demography
Anna Rezyapova, a research assistant of our laboratory, participated in two international events related to the problem of migration and demography which took place in Athens (June 18-21, 2018) and Lisbon (June 26-28, 2018). Anna shared her experience and impressions of the trip.
The 5th Annual International Conference on Demography and Population Studies organized by Athens Institute of Education and Research took place in Athens from 18th to 21st of June 2018. The wide range of topics on demography was discussed during the conference. The study areas varied from analyzing and forecasting the population structures to the research about indigenous population in the countries all over the world. The problem of migration was also widely discussed during several sessions. First, large attention was devoted to recent migration crisis in the European Union and the problem of refugees and asylum-seekers. The studies on migrant communities in Italy and research about the influence of migration experience on the future life of migrants were presented. I gave a presentation «Econometric Model of International Migration: 1990-2015, Age and Political Rights Impact» (co-authored with Aleskerov F.T.).
Another academic event, which I was very delighted to attend was The Migration Conference 2018. The conference was held from 26 to 28 June 2018 at the University of Lisbon. The conference impressed with its scale: according to the organizers, this is the largest event in the field of international migration research. The sessions were held not only in English, but also in Spanish and Turkish. The conference covered many aspects of migration: migration theories, geography of migration, education and migration, migration of refugees, migration policy, etc. During the conference I made the presentations on "Econometric Model of International Migration: 1990-2015, education and conflicts impact" (co-authored with Aleskerov F. T.) and "Network model of international migration" (co-authored with Aleskerov F. T., Meshcheryakova N. D., Shvydun S. V.).
Conference experience turned out to be useful for the future work and allowed to see the new prospects in the problem of international migration.
