Seminar "Expert opinion and data analysis"

On Wednesday, May 22, the National Research University Higher School of Economics hosted a seminar "Expert opinion and data analysis".

Speaker: I.V.Petrov (IPU RAS)
Theme: Network effects and network interventions

Annotation:
The paper examines game-theoretic models of interaction between economic agents on the network. Decisions made by agents under the influence of interaction with others (or under the influence of environmental effects, eng. peer effects) generate externalities and, consequently, inefficiency. This creates an opportunity for the center's intervention, which is commonly referred to in foreign literature as network intervention.
The report examines various examples of mathematical models of network effects and their special case - a class of games with a linear best answer. The management tasks known to them (or network interventions) are considered. In particular, the case of the task of the center, which is able to influence both the individual characteristics of the players and the structure of the interaction of the participants, in an attempt to answer the question of which of the methods (individual or structural) intervention is more effective.
