Project 5-100 International Council Confirms HSE’s Leadership
From October 26-27, a regular meeting of the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100 was held in Kaliningrad. The academic institutions involved in the project presented the results of their work and plans for the upcoming period of their respective roadmaps.
HSE has been in a leader position since the earliest days of the project, and this time, it joins the top echelon of the Project 5-100 participants.
The presentation on HSE was delivered to the Council by Yaroslav Kuzminov, HSE Rector, Vadim Radaev, First HSE Vice Rector, Maria Yudkevich, HSE Vice Rector, Irina Karelina, Director of Strategic Planning, and Isak Froumin, Head of the Institute of Education.
As a result of the Council’s discussions, the following resolutions were made: all universities shall continue receiving funding from the Project, and are no divided into three groups. The group of leaders, in addition to HSE, also includes MEPhI, MIPT, NSU, TSU, ITMO, and MISIS. The second group includes KSU, RUDN, Sechenov University, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, TyumSU, and URFU. The third group includes BFU, FEFU, LETI, Samara University, Lobachevsky University, South Ural State University, and SFU.
The Council is a permanent advisory body, which was set to up to consider issues related to the development of leading Russian universities in order to improve their competitiveness among leading global research and educational institutions.
The Council is headed by Tatyana Golikova, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia. Her deputies include Mikhail Kotyukov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, and Andrey Volkov, Academic Policy Advisor at the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo.
The Council also includes representatives of the global and Russian academic communities, public executives responsible for educational reforms, as well as acknowledged international experts and researchers who are esteemed in the global community.
