HSE Competition to Support Student Initiatives Kicks Off
World map made of old motherboards created for Dead Electronics Day – one of the 2015 competition winners
The Student Initiative Support Centre has announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2016 Autumn Student Project Competition. There are no limits to project themes; they may involve an adaptation or media project, as well as cover sports, cultural or social topics. The main idea is that they are supposed to bring an improvement to HSE. Applications can be submitted by both individuals and groups, but projects must be led by an HSE student.
Competition winners will receive support from the university to implement their ideas, including financial support if needed. The Fund Council will select winners and specify the level of support. The maximum level of funding for one project in 2016 will be 200,000 roubles.
Students interested in taking part in the competition should send a completed application to studsupport@hse.ru before October 20, 2016. The format for the application is open, but it is necessary to provide answers to all points of the application form. The form may be completed in English.
Applications will be accepted from September 21 to October 20, 2016.
The first stage of the selection will consist of expert review and public evaluation of the proposals. The teams that receive the most points will be invited to defend their projects before the Fund Council. Defences will take place from November 7-9, and the winners will be announced on November 11.
The HSE Business Incubator has developed a unique educational module, HSE {Start}, a student project accelerator, which is available only for participants in the competition.
A proposal will receive 10 additional points in the competition if at least half of the project participants complete this course.
The module will be held from September 28 to October 13. More information on the module and registration for the workshop is available here.
Winning projects from past competitions can also be reviewed.
