University of London about DSBA Programme at HSE

Developed by academics at LSE, the BSc is the latest programme created as part of the long-standing relationship between the University of London, LSE and HSE.

On November 11, 2018, the new Bachelor’s programme in Data Science and Business Analytics launched by HSE Moscow in cooperation with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) held its first Open House event. The programme has proved to be a successful new project, the latest in a succession of programmes created as part of long-standing collaboration between the University of London (UoL), LSE and HSE.

The BSc in Data Science and Business Analytics has been developed by academics at LSE and is only running in a handful of countries this year, including Singapore, Sri Lanka and Kosovo. Through this programme, we aim to provide students with essential training in probability, statistics, mathematics and computing tools for the visualisation and analysis of large data sets. This degree will provide you with the necessary skills for employment in numerous fields as a data scientist, analyst, or a similar role requiring a critical and independent mind.

Via video conference, I was delighted to participate in HSE's Open Day activities. The number of attendees was very impressive, testament to the interest which our programmes are generating, in particular for the new BSc in Data Science and Business Analytics.

During my presentation, I had the opportunity to explain the background to the relationship between UoL, LSE and HSE, as well as the academic expectations of our courses. This was followed by a few illustrative examples of data science to help raise awareness of the benefits of the new programme.

Dr. James Abdey, convenor of the programme, LSE

At HSE, the programme is delivered in collaboration with the Faculty of Computer Science, which consistently attracts strong applicants skilled in mathematics and programming across Russia, Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and other countries.

Admission to the programme is now open.  Prospective international students are welcome to explore the degree contents and the advantages it has to offer. If interested, applicants are advised to seek support and advice from HSE on how to apply, to enable a smooth application process for applicants from abroad and from diverse educational backgrounds.

The next Open Days are scheduled for February and April 2019.
