A weather vane in the shape of a big-beaked bird has appeared near the HSE building on Myasnitskaya Street in Moscow. The Crow’s ceremonial unveiling coincided with the 85^th birthday of HSE Academic Supervisor Evgeny Yasin, who initiated it as our university’s mascot.

In early April the spring Student Project Contest conducted its final phase—the public defense. HSE News Service spoke with the winners about how their projects can be useful for every HSE student.

On March 20, at the HSE Staff and Student Conference, HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov presented the key points of the new Development Programme for the period extending to 2030. Because measles is already near. Don’t forget that there was a case of the measles in the Faculty of Communications, Media, and Design at Khitrovsky pereulok, 2/8, building 5. In order to ensure the safety of students and staff, HSE will begin offering the measles vaccine on campus once again starting February 19. The HSE Academic Council announced that Sergey Pekarski, Head of the Department of Theoretical Economics, will take over as  Dean of Faculty from Oleg Zamulin, who will join Sberbank’s Centre of Macroeconomic Research as Director. Professor Zamulin will retain his position of  professor at the faculty and continue teaching.

Every winter, HSE students and staff occupy the slope at the KANT skiing complex to organize the HSE Snow Fest. On this day, HSE students, HSE Lyceum students, and HSE staff together can go snowboarding and alpine skiing for free. In 2019, HSE Snow Fest takes place on February 10.

On December 21, HSE students organized an Art & Science space called ‘NOCH’ (‘NIGHT’) on the site of the SAMSKARA exhibition at the ArtPlay Design Center in Moscow. Over the course of the seven-hour event, participants discussed the search for extraterrestrial civilizations, the significance of gender differences in post-industrial society, the use of modern technologies to meld art and science, and other exciting topics.
