Alexander Golovlev's lecture "Historical geography as applied tool in political science, sociology and economy"

On February 28 Alexander Golovlev's (the research associate of the International center of history and sociology of World War II and its consequences of HSE) interactive lecture "Historical geography as the applied tool in political science, sociology and economy" took place within the meeting of Student Research Society "Economy and Politics of Asia"

Historical processes are inseparable from spatial dimention. Even antique historians dealt with geographical issues. During development and professionalizing of historical science geography was actively  used for studying of physiographic and climatic, political, economic, social, demographic and cultural processes. Developments and methods of historical geography can be useful to political scientists, economists or sociologists, especially when they need to analyze average and long-term processes, or to compare various temporary cuts.

During the discussion participants discussed possibilities of connection of methods of historical geography and digital-humanities and influence of geography on the relations between China, Korea and Japan at the beginning of the 20th century.
