Students’ trip to «Mo Yan Fest» in Pskov

7 students of Chinese Studies Section and 3 professors of the Programme attended an exciting event - «Mo Yan Fest» devoted to the Chinese writer Mo Yan.

Students of Chinese Studies Section will remember the end of 2023 for exciting trip to Pskov where they have attended the festival devoted to the work of modern Chinese writer, Nobel laureate Mo Yan together with the professors of the Programme.

It was Pskov drama theater that firstly put on the stage version of Mo Yan’s popular novel «Frog». The play received a wide response among viewers and critics, was nominated for the «Golden Mask» award in 8 categories in Russia. The writer thanked Pskov drama theater for the organization of theplay of his novel and took part in the festival online.

During the festival our students were able to watch the play «Frog», meet with actors and ask them questions, attended some lectures by Dean of the Faculty of Asian and African Studies of St. Petersburg University devoted to Mo Yan’s work. Also students saw the teleconference with Mo Yan during which the writer spoke at length about his work and answered the guests’ questions.

The students also visited Pskov Kremlin, Izborsk and Pechora.
