Associate Professor of the faculty became the Science Journalist of the Year

Russian Association for Science Communication (AKSON) and the Development and Environment Foundation have announced the results of the Science Journalist of the Year Award in the category «Climate Change and Adaptation».

The category which was held for the first time attracted more than 20 authors. Yulia Kuznetsova, associate Professor of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technology was marked out by the jury due to her article on climate refugees "We don’t belong here». The article published in the Russian popular science magazine N + 1 was recognized as the best text on climate topic.

‘Geography is a large, complex and interdisciplinary science. Science journalism for me is a great opportunity to go beyond my subject and scientific discipline, explore literature on related topics and communicate with experts. This is very interesting to me, and I learn a lot in the process,’ said Ms Kuznetsova.

Along with Yulia Kuznetsova, the jury awarded authors Angelina Davydova and Andrei Sorokin. The Science Journalist of the Year 2021 (formerly Rusnano Russian Sci & Tech Writer of the Year) award was established in 2019 and is the Russian stage of the European Science Journalist of the Year competition.
