Paper of Emiliano Catonini in Games and Economic Behavior
Congratulations to Emiliano Catonini, ICEF assistant professor, on acceptance of his paper "Ambiguity Attitudes and Self-Confirming Equilibrium in Sequential Games" (with P. Battigalli, G. Lanzani, and M. Marinacci) in the international peer reviewed journal Games and Economic Behavior, one of the top journals in Economic Theory.
Emiliano's paper investigates the behavior of individuals who play a dynamic game recurrently, and form beliefs about the behavior of the opponents from their past experience. When players are averse to ambiguity (i.e. uncertainty that they cannot quantify with one probability distribution), they may stick to behavioral patterns that are suboptimal under common knowledge, not expose themselves to the uncertainty that untested deviations entail.
