The Econometrics Universiade-2023 has announced its results. This year the contest resumed in-person operation after having been held online for three years, and was marked by the exceptional performance of the ICEF students, its winners.

With many companies, February is the starting month of the recruiting season and the time for the prospective candidates to meet employers and show talent at career events. Vera Potekhina is in her third year of bachelor's degree at ICEF and has joined several case competitions and projects over the past month. Here’s Vera’s experience of solving companies’ real-life challenges and how connecting with employers can prompt the right career choice.

The Econometrics Universiade 2023 has summed up the results of its first stage. Among those who have successfully completed it are many ICEF students, as usual. Twenty-six of them are 3- and 4-year undergraduates and have scored more than half of the points required to proceed to final stage, the latter scheduled for April 8 and will, for the first time since 2019, be held in-person. Since this year, Econometrics Universiade classifies as competition on the Lomonosov list.

Alexander Zayonts, Founder, President and CEO at Hoff hypermarket chain, delivered his talk, entitled “Promoting Business Under Restrictions”, as part of a series of sessions with leading Russian practicing economists and entrepreneurs. Alexander has a place on ICEF Endowment Fund Board of Trustees. Acting as the moderator was HSE University President Alexander Shokhin.

Three 3rd-year undergraduates are back from Bilgi University after their exchange semester that spanned the months between September 2022 and January 2023. ICEF has a tradition: every year its students sit their accounting exam dressed in New Year’s Eve costumes. The students and the teachers use the celebratory atmosphere to relieve the tension from the strenuous examination tests and to ease into new module.

The HSE University has summed up the results of its Student Research Paper Competition-2022, held among students and graduates. For the representatives of ICEF, this contest was yet another proof of their excellent performance. Four won prizes as best finance and economics papers, three more received an honourable mention. This year’s competition among participants was greater than ever: since 2021 the authors of the winning papers receive a special scholarship from HSE for exceptional academic achievements.

Philipp Gabunia, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, has recently met with students of HSE University. His lecture opened a series of meetings with leading practicing economists on the development of Russia's economy in the current environment.
