'I have always wanted to be versatile'

In the spring of 2021, HSE ICEF graduate Oleg Bezumov made it to Forbes 30 Under 30 winners list in category Finance & Investment. Oleg currently holds an executive position at Goldman Sachs (London) investment banking department and has participated in the world’s biggest IPO that raised $29 billion for Saudi Aramco oil company. In this interview Oleg shares how living in London can spur personal development, how sports contribute to career success, and what provides the yardstick for prestige in the investment business. He also tells about the benefits of networking and his encounter with David Beckham.

Despite the pandemic and the travel restrictions, HSE University continues to hire international faculty members. Runjie Geng, from China, joined HSE ICEF in 2020 as Assistant Professor. On March 29, HSE is fully transitioning to in-person instruction. However, since March 1 some departments, including ICEF, have been conducting seminars on campus while holding lecture courses online. Oleg Zamkov, Academic Supervisor of the ICEF Bachelor’s programme, spoke about how ICEF survived the rapid transition to online exams, what LSE professors have to say about the effectiveness of the online exams, and what digital innovations that were implemented during the remote period will be used moving forward.

The best students choose ICEF: the winners and prize-winners of All Russian Olympiads speak about the start of their studies

In 2020 13 winners of All-Russian Olympiad in mathematics and economics were admitted to ICEF. All of them receive 100% discount for their full undergraduate degree course and a VTB Bank scholarship. These students have successfully finished their first module, passed the exams, and chosen the elective courses in addition to the main programme. Many of them have already started studying on ICEF Academia programme. They told us why they chose HSE-ICEF and the programme and why it is important for them to study here. They also told us what current school graduates expect from higher education and what they hope to do in the future.
