IRGS Students Tried On a Role of Marketing Researchers

Within the International Relations and Global Studies programme, student workshops are regularly held by the leaders of the business industry. The classes are characterized by a creative atmosphere, while also compelling participants to enhance their analytical and research abilities, necessary for their future profession.

In April, a series of workshops were organized by Igor Gladyshkevich, the marketing research manager at Yandex.Market. They were a part of the Marketing Research course.

During the sessions, students discussed case study, explored the ways to apply marketing research tools to strengthen a brand and to gain practical benefits from marketing, tested business ideas. The course instructor paid special attention to various types of marketing research, such as marketing analysis, customer experience study, and product analysis.

"I am a graduate of HSE. Besides my Alma Mater, I was fortunate enough to study abroad in France, the Netherlands, and South Korea, so I have the opportunity to compare both Western and Eastern approaches. Currently, the Faculty teaches cutting-edge theory and invites business representatives to seminars, which aligns with the best global practices. The results of this approach are evident. I was surprised at how quickly students managed to identify insights that we had been searching for with a team of professional researchers," Igor Gladyshkevich says.

A 3rd-year student of the International Relations and Global Studies programme, Nikita Boldyshev, shared his impressions of the workshop: "I thought that 'Marketing Research’ was a discipline far from the applied skills necessary for an international student. However, in practice, seminars were filled with case study; the instructor was extremely involved in the discussion process; and we had a variety of tasks. So the course became saturated with useful information and contributed to the development of my future career. I realized that a proper marketing analysis can prevent from choosing the wrong strategy and pave the way for the success of a project. I felt that we are a part of the history that is reshaping the modern business landscape."

Such workshops help students better understand the study material, see how they can apply the acquired knowledge in practice, and develop skills in systematic and critical thinking.

Workshops were held within the Marketing Research course (Lecturer - A.V. Lebedev).
