The Bible brings together the most important literary and religious traditions of Europe and the Middle East. This programme introduces students not only to important biblical works and their historical context, but also to the traditions that meet at the ‘crossroads’ which the Bible represents: the ancient Middle East and antiquity, Judaism and Christianity. The comprehensive study of one of the fundamental texts of European civilization, combined with a broad education in the humanities- ancient and modern languages, units in philology, linguistics, general history, the history of religion and culture. This programme provides students which the strong foundations needed in a wide variety of specializations in the humanities, from Asian Studies to Cultural Studies.
