Students of the HSE School of Logistics visit PepsiCo factory and warehouse
18 November 2016, a group of fourth-year students of the HSE School of Logistics visited the PepsiCo factory and warehouse in the free trade zone “Sherrizone”. The excursion was led by A.B. Vinogradov, the senior professor of logistics department. The exchange students of the HSE School of Logistics Fernanda Rodriges Baes and Luisa Fernanda del Valle (Autonomous University of Puebla, Mexico) also took part in the excursion.
The employees of the factory introduced the students to the aspects of the main stages of the production process, from water cleaning to bottling, and to the “LeanProduction” principle used at the factory.
The excursion started at the loading zone. Then the students viewed the technological and weight-handling equipment used in the storage zone and in other production areas.
After a detailed description of cargo handling process, the goods yard information control system (Yard Management System) was introduced to the visitors. The system allows to improve the efficiency of operation of the incoming vehicles.
The School of Logistics administration thanks Andrey Ovchinnikov, an analyst of the administrative warehouse support group, Oleg Logashov, a senior efficiency improvement specialist, Anna Moseeva, an intern, and other employees of the PepsiCo company, who took part in organizing the excursion.
