The institute is a leader in fundamental and innovation-oriented research in the fields of molecular, structural and cellular biology, bioorganic chemistry, biophysics, bioengineering, cell technologies, molecular basis of in vivo bioimaging, genome editing, bioinformatics and others. Such a multidisciplinary structure allows the institute to carry out large-scale research at the interface of sciences, where the most interesting scientific discoveries are made today.

Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology

The Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology, Russian Academy of Sciences is carrying out unique complex research in the field of study of neurophysiological, neurochemical, molecular-biological, genetic, epigenetic and neuromorphological basis of human and animal behaviour formation.

Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience

The Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience was founded to develop theoretical models of cognitive processes and interdisciplinary empirical research at the intersection of psychology, linguistics, engineering, computer science and many other disciplines.

The Institute consists of three main units:
