Demographic results of the first half of 2018 in Russia (Part I). Signs of population decline are increasing - for January-June of 2018 the number of Russians decreased by 89,000 people (-0.1%), leaving a mid-year total population of 146.8 million. Natural decline has increased by more than a third, net migration has decreased by a quarter compared to January-June 2017. The number of children born in January-June of 2018 decreased by 4.7% compared to the same period in 2017.
