Methodological approaches to the problem of the transport system in Moscow

<p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">The problem of urban transport systems imperfections is quite sharp today worldwide as it entails a lot of negative consequences for the entire community. The paper considers a number of causes of problems of the transport system in Moscow. The aim of the study is to analyze the system of measures imposed by Moscow Department of Transport for solving urban traffic problems and to make recommendations for their improvement, considering the successful experience of urban transport policy in developed countries.</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">The work is based on the researches conducted by Russian and foreign transport planners, the data from statistical agencies, thу orders and instructions from the official website of Moscow Department of Transport, as well as involves an online survey of Moscow motorists.</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">The result is the following measures that will improve the efficiency of the transport system in Moscow:</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&middot; The differentiated by time of day and location tariff menu on paid parking must be introduced in the city center</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&middot; Some improvements in periphery transport should be done</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&middot; A new image of public transport systems should be created</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&middot;A double-loop road network with the delimitation of the concepts of streets and roads should be created</p>
