Preferences for Fair Wage Distribution

What is the effect of workers' beliefs about fairness on the contracts structure and internal organization of the firm? This work proposes a model with one principal and two agents, who are heterogeneous in their attitude towards what is considered to be fair. The results of the model give insights about the optimal mechanism of task allocation between agents different in their tolerance towards unfairness. I find that the principal's surplus is higher when more tolerant agent works on the task with less noise in the output.
