The Incidence of Wage Effects of Education Mismatch in Russia

This paper examines overeducation and undereducation in Russian labor market. The work is based on two approaches of measuring mismatches - self-assessment and statistical. Obtained results show high incidence of over and undereducation. The analysis of influence of mismatches between education supplied and education required for the job on wages illustrates in Russia there is a high return on years of education required and low on overeducation. This leads to high penalty for workers with overeducation and high reward for undereducated ones.
