This study represents the analysis of the Russia-Italy cooperation in energy sphere in the European context. In terms of resources depletion, the energy security becomes one of the most important values to achieve. Russian Federation historically possesses a large amount of raw materials that Moscow exports in Europe. Understanding its role, Russia tries to exercise control over European market in order to minimize costs and to be able to influence European countries. European Union tries to deteriorate role of Russia, and Italy, as a part of Europe on the one hand, is interested in European agenda, but on the other hand, economic cooperation with Russia is very high too. So, Italy remains an ally of Russia despite the fact that Europe tries to decrease cooperation with Moscow
