Career Orientations of Schoolchildren as the Factor of the Human Capital's Formation

Master's dissertation is done in an academic format and is a study, which aims to identify the link between the value of human capital of high school students and their career orientations. The theoretical analysis of the scientific literature in historical perspective reflects the current trend of expansion of interpretation of the category of «human capital». Argued the specification of this category at the level of general education and its restriction to the notion of «academic capital». The conceptual approaches to measuring human capital are considered. Author reviewed conceptual approaches to measuring human capital, specified the relationship between the concepts of «human capital» and «career». The role of career orientation of the individual in building a career has been specified. Explained the selection of the questionnaire «Career Orientation Inventory» by E.H.Schein as a screening tool, which allows to determine awareness of the individual representations of the vector of further professional advancement. The version of its modification for use in the studied cohort of seniors is offered. The analysis and subsequent interpretation of the quantitative data of the empirical part of the work were performed using parametric and nonparametric statistical methods. Based on the interpretation of the empirical part of the work conclusion is that the value of human capital of students, expressed in points of USE, does not depend on their orientation to the construction of a vertical or horizontal career. The results obtained in the course of the dissertation research can be used by representatives of the executive authorities of the regions of Russian Federation engaged in management education, local authorities, heads of educational institutions, and also school educational psychologists, during the development and the immediate implementation of measures, aimed at improving of the professional orientation of students.
