Year of Graduation: 2018

Graduation thesis is devoted to the process of making educational project. The aim of the project was to develop training materials on information literacy course for at-risk youth. This publication answers several practice-oriented questions: - Which pedagogical techniques should we use while teaching information literacy? - How can we make into account learning abilities and disabilities of adopted youth? - How should we evaluate course design and children’s progress during the course? The key question of the project is “which pedagogical techniques for teaching information literacy work best in the group of adopted kids?” Research for the project was divided into two phases. Phase one was held before launching of the course. During this time research papers on teaching information literacy and teaching adopted children were analyzed. The second phase was conducted in the middle of the course probation. With the help of action research methodology and its key feature “cycle of self-reflection” course design was evaluated. In addition to colleagues’ feedback, surveys and rubrics were applied to examine kids’ progress and techniques’ efficiency. As a result, I have prepared training materials and special recommendations for future teachers of this course. Recommendations include schemes on how to deliver abstract skills for being information literate and games holding children’s attention.
