The Role of Water Resources In Relationships Between Egypt, Sudan And Ethiopia as Reflected by the Dispute over the Renaissance Dam

For some states due to the shortage water resources have become more than a means of livelihood, nowadays it is a national interest. This circumstance explains why countries fight for and argue about the right to water management and control. The good example is Egypt-Ethiopia case which has been exacerbated by the building of the Renaissance Dam. This research is dedicated to analyzing the political relationship between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia which has been shaping under the Nile management dispute in general and the Renaissance Dam construction in particular. The graduate work aims to study interstate interaction between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to unpack this complex relationship and assess the impacts that water resources issue has on the nature of this relationship. Also the work includes the analysis of global water shortage and water management issue. It further identifies the role of third countries there. Hence, we will be able to conclude which combinations of these determinants result in fueling conflict, sustaining the status quo or contributing to confidence-building.
