Principles of the Monumental Decoration of the Moscow City Mansions of the Art Nouveau Era

This graduation qualification work is devoted to the peculiarities of the decorating principles of Moscow private mansions of the Art Nouveau era (late XIX - early XX century). The urgency of the work is since the style in historiography was singled out only in comparison with European and northern modernity, and there is no research devoted to the Moscow version and its scenery. The object of the study are the facades of the Moscow mansions of the Art Nouveau era. The circle of researched monuments, according to the chosen theme, is limited by the legacy available to us, or which can be restored from photographs. The subject of the study are the principles of decorating private residences. The goal of the final qualifying work is to reveal the stylistic and artistic-expressive features of the monumental scenery of the Moscow mansions of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. To achieve this goal, the following tasks are solved: 1. Analyze the specifics of the monumental decoration of the Art Nouveau style; 2. To show the unique features of the monumental scenery of Art Nouveau in Moscow: preferences in plots, materials and means of artistic expressiveness; 3. Explain the reasons for the specifics of the Moscow Art Nouveau; 4. Analyze specific monuments. In the result of the work, features characteristic only to Moscow decoration were singled out, the main sources of influence on the choice of scenery were traced.
