Commemoration of the Soviet Past in the Policy of the Regional Center (on the example of Yarosavl)

Use of commemoration practices as the tool of symbolical policy by the dominating elite is necessary for identity formation. In this work it will be analysed transformation of use by the Yaroslavl power in the 1990s commemoration practices which have been as envisioned aimed at formation of the state identity. In qualities the practician congratulatory addresses, renaming of streets and establishment/demolition of monuments have been chosen, however the commemoration of the Soviet past by the dominating elite in Yaroslavl became the main criterion of the analysis.
