The Social Designing of the City Image by Internal Migrants and Local Residents (the Case of St. Petersburg)

This research is aimed at establishing what criteria for the community and differences in the images of the city are the basis for the processes of perception and development of urban space by internal migrants and local residents. The image of the city is a collection of impressions, memories, travel experiences and interaction with the environment. Therefore, the work identifies the factors that shape this image: the experience of mobility, everyday practices (significant places, frequent routes of movement, difficulties in mastering the city) and symbols that are associated with St. Petersburg The object of the study are students of the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen, which fall into two categories: local residents (people who were born in St. Petersburg) and internal migrants, the subject - the presentation of St. Petersburg students about the urban space.
