The developmental space of adolescents is changing rapidly. Significant changes in the way of life of families, control by adults, and the expansion of the virtual space lead to the fact that teenagers do not show initiative in the local community, do not identify themselves with it. The surrounding area of the small Motherland does not become attractive for adult life of teenagers. Social networks now play a significant role in the daily life of a teenager. At the same time, the space of the Internet and social networks as a space for the development of adolescents is not actually the object of pedagogical influence. Nevertheless, the inclusion of adults in this space is necessary for intergenerational interaction based on trust and real social transformations. In foreign countries, targeted activities are being carried out to involve adolescents in urban life. Programs implemented at the country, regional and community levels are developed on the basis of local circumstances. In Russia, attempts to involve adolescents in the urban educational space through social networks are still rare. The empirical part of the study examines the features of using the social network "Vkontakte" by teenagers of the closed city - Sarov An important result of the study is the fixation of the influence of the size of the urban area on the manifestation of the specificity of interests in the communities "Vkontakte" associated with the city - within the territory teenagers need to feel a sense of ownership to the city events. The codebook, adapted for communities "Vkontakte", proposed for use. It allows them to study on their own group in a social network, to assess the involvement of adolescents in the educational space of the city to encourage such activity, setting group and its content certain characteristics. The work will be interesting to the heads of urban areas and educational organizations, teachers interested in the active inclusion of adolescents in the urban space.
