The Civil Education of Moscow Schoolchildren by Mean of Introducing yhe Political Literacy Discipline

In this master's thesis, the problem is expressed in the fact that modern young people in Russia have low knowledge of modern politics, and, as a result, are completely incompetent in it. Because of the problem posed, the research questions of the master’s thesis were related to the presentation of the theoretical basis of the notion “citizen”, programs that form political literacy and its development, as well as approbation of the educational program among Moscow schoolchildren, which allowed to prove the theoretical and practical significance of the work. With the help of the dissertation research, the concept of civic education has been specified, the concepts of citizen and citizenship have been analyzed, and the structure and content of the course of political literacy have been developed and tested, and the results of the study allow tracing positive changes in the level of political literacy of different ages. All the results obtained in the course of the study confirmed that increasing the level of political literacy leads to an increase in students' awareness of their citizenship and understanding of their place in society, politics and the legal sphere.
