The main objective of this study is to classify the strategies of football clubs in the transfer market, analyze its dependence on the financial position of the club and analyze the formation of the transfer fee of football players. Using the financial ratio analysis method and regression analysis we evaluated the influence of the financial position of clubs on its transfer policy and constructed a model for assessing the transfer fee of a football player. To test the proposed hypotheses, a large sample of European club’s financial information from 2014 to 2018 (98 clubs) was used, and a large set of factors were used to estimate the value of a football player including those previously untested in scientific papers. It is expected to see differences in the impact of financial indicators on various strategies of football clubs in the transfer market, as well as the statistical significance of the factors proposed for assessing the transfer fee of a player.
