Nowadays employees' psychological connection to their work plays more and more important role in companies' effectiveness. Organizations seek for engaged workers who can make maximum effort playing their roles and are devoted to what they do. It becomes extremely important in IT-recruitment sphere where people are the main competitive advantage and resource for business. That is why it is very important to understand what strongly influences the engagement and how it can be increased more effectively. There are different studies of factors which influence engagement but employee interest is hardly taken into account. Engagement as well as interests is built on emotions and intrinsic feelings of employees, so there is a great possibility that interest to work has the potential to play the leading role in increasing employees’ engagement. The research was conducted to determine whether employee interests influence their engagement and also to consider the relationship between types of interests and engagement. To find it out two surveys were conducted: interest questionnaire and engagement measurement test (Skriptunova Elena method). In addition, individual oral interviews were conducted with some of the respondents to clarify their understanding of issues or concepts. The sample is 10 people (all workers of recruitment agency). It was found that to the greatest extent (average correlation) engagement correlates with professional, career interests and interests of small groups.
