Factors of Blue-collar Workers' Engagement in Railway Transport Organization

This research focuses on factors of blue-collar workers' engagement in railway transport organization. Employee engagement has positive organizational outcomes such as employee turnover reduction, decreased number of incidents during production, improved employee efficiency. It is important to understand how to manage blue-collar workers' engagement in companies where this type of workers is in majority. The purpose of this study is to define factors that develop blue-collar workers' engagement in railway transport organization and to give recommendations on how to increase said aspect. During the research the survey among 56 mechanics was conducted. The results showed that supervisor support, skill variety and task significance had major impact on blue-collar workers engagement. Length of service had negative impact on engagement of blue-collar workers. As a result, the recommendations on how to increase blue-collar workers' engagement was given.
