The Impact of Country’s Infrastructure on the Online Shopping Development

Internet commerce is developing at a tremendous rate all over the world. The growth of this indicator is influenced by many factors from both external and internal environment of countries. In this study, we focus on the influence of infrastructure factors on the development of online shopping, namely ICT factors. The purpose of the study is to determine the main ICT factors that influence the development of e-commerce, as well as to define the degree of influence of these factors. To study the interrelationship of ICT factors and the growth of Internet commerce, information was collected on 6 ICT indicators for 41 countries. These indicators are: Average price of broadband internet, Broadband speed, use of a laptop, notebook, netbook or tablet to access the Internet, use of a mobile phone to access the Internet, access to electricity, Internet usage The method of data analysis in the study is the ordinary least squares. During data analysis were made: regressions, correlations, multicollinearity tests and summary tables with the obtained analytical indicators. The results of the study showed that not all of the ICT indicators chosen by us have influence on Internet retailing development, but several of them have. The indicators which have higher level of influence are: use of a laptop, notebook, netbook or tablet to access the Internet and Average price of broadband internet. In conclusion, we can say that there is a connection between country’s infrastructure and online shopping development at a certain level.
