Implementation of a two-component user authentication system based on mobile devices

Student: Natarov Yuriy

Supervisor: Maxim Leykin

Faculty: Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science (HSE Nizhny Novgorod)

Educational Programme: Software Engineering (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 9

Year of Graduation: 2019

The purpose of the project is to create a secure and user-friendly two-component user authentication system based on mobile devices. The resulting product gives a user full control over his or her secret data storage and provide a simple, but safe way of password management. The key idea is to keep all the sensitive data on a single mobile device that is owned by a user, use built-in biometry scanners to check the access rights and transfer data wirelessly to a PC with a receiver software installed. A secure key exchange scheme allows not to store any secret information on PC and transform a mobile device into a universal independent key to a user’s data.
