The study of state support of agriculture has scientific and practical interest. The purpose of this research work is to develop proposals for improving measures of state support for agriculture in order to increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sectors of Russia. The paper analyzes current trends in international trade in agricultural products, examines the main methods and programs of state support for agriculture, assesses the impact of state support on countries' competitiveness in the world market, and formulates recommendations for improving Russia's competitiveness through state support measures for the agricultural sector. Active lobbying of Russian interests during the Doha Round of negotiations at the WTO, as well as state support programs aimed at expanding production areas and creating clusters, subsidizing transportation costs, and measures to enter new markets can boost Russian agricultural exports, thereby developing competitiveness agro-industrial complex of the country. The results of the study can be used in the practical activities of enterprises, as well as authorities in the planning and development of measures of state support for agriculture.
